Groundwater sits close to the surface in parts of the Springville valley, while the east side near Hobble Creek Canyon drains through alluvial soil. Avalawn designs around whichever one you've got.

The historic springs that gave Springville its name didn't disappear when the city grew up around them. In parts of the valley, groundwater still sits close enough to the surface that a yard can stay damp even without much irrigation, which changes how we grade, drain, and plant those properties.
On the east side, where Hobble Creek Canyon opens onto the bench, the ground tells a different story. Rocky limestone and quartzite alluvial material drains fast and digs tough, so retaining structure, planting beds, and irrigation all need a different approach than they would a mile away on the valley floor.
We build every Springville project around the side of that line your property sits on.
Took advantage of the winter discount on their filters and it saved us a ton of money on our irrigation revitalization project. We have been wanting to get our sprinklers up and running ever since we moved in but have never been able to fit it in our budget until now. Very fair pricing and a great crew to back it up.
If you have secondary water, you know the battle with your pressure. Luckily Kordell had just the right solution to fix my pressure issue in my back yard zone. They were in and out in a day with nothing left behind except a perfectly working system. Super pleased with the crew over at Avalawn.
We did our project in these months to save some money, and even in the freezing weather, the crew showed up with a great attitude. They were able to make our whole yard water wise in just a week. Xeriscaping some areas due to inefficiencies and overhauling the whole sprinkler system. 10/10 times would recommend these guys to take care of any of your irrigation needs.
Davin and Kordell (and crew) are the hardest workers! They turned my 200 foot back fence into a low maintenance beauty. Worked with me when adding/changing stuff. Kordell is very knowledgeable and saved me from having to replace the 9 trees I bought because we have secondary water. Got it done quick. AvaLawn went the extra mile to repair my fountain pump while adding some water lines that the original installer neglected to add. Kordell knew his stuff about fountains too! I would highly recommend!
We had Avalawn do our drip system, removal of a water feature, and install rock in all the boarders and beds. I can’t say enough good things about how well they did! They took a run down yard and made it look amazing! The pictures don’t do it justice. I will be referring them to anyone I know who is shopping for anything yard related. They were prompt and efficient. We have future projects we are saving up for and we will use them again!! Thank you so much Avalawn
We’ve had a persistent issue with our fountain for three summers and two other companies couldn’t figure it out. Kordell came out and pinpointed the issue super fast. He knew his stuff when it came to water features. While he was here he fixed our drip line that we didn’t even know had a leak. I’ve worked with plenty of contractors in my day but it's rare to find one that actually wants to help rather than doing the bare minimum. I highly recommend Avalawn!
I had Avalawn clean our waterfall, empty the reservoir tank and make sure our pump was working properly Eric did a wonderful job cleaning and refreshing the waterfall after years of buildup and yuck. It looks beautiful! He even went so far as to rearrange the rocks so that it sounded much more pleasing. They were easy to work with, and pricing was more than fair. I will definitely use them again.
Springville sits on ground fed by historic springs, and in parts of the valley, the water table sits close enough to the surface to keep soil naturally moist. We plan grading, plant choices, and drainage around that, rather than assuming your yard behaves like a typical dry Utah lot.
Where the canyon opens onto the bench, it has been depositing alluvial material composed of rocky limestone and quartzite for a long time. That soil drains well but is tougher to dig and amend than the finer clay and silt found closer to the valley floor.
Yes, but it needs to be planned for. We adjust grading and drainage so the lawn isn't sitting in saturated soil, and we're careful not to overwater ground that's already getting help from groundwater underneath it.
Often, yes, especially on the valley floor near the creek's drainage corridor. Even without flooding, elevated soil moisture near the creek can affect how we grade a yard and where we route excess water.
That's the rocky alluvial fan material from Hobble Creek Canyon. It's well-draining, which is a plus for plant health, but it takes the right equipment and technique to excavate for beds, irrigation lines, or hardscape.
We design and install the full irrigation system, tuned for whichever side of Springville you're on, whether that means avoiding overwatering naturally moist ground or getting full coverage on fast-draining canyon soil.
Whether your yard sits on naturally moist valley ground or rocky soil near Hobble Creek Canyon, Avalawn can design a landscape built for it. Reach out for a free quote.
