Bench lots in Lindon drain fast through sand and gravel. Valley lots sit on clay that holds water and runs off. Avalawn designs around whichever soil you have.

Drive from the base of the mountain down toward the freeway in Lindon, and the ground itself changes under your feet. Up near the foothills, soils are sandy and gravelly, so water moves through quickly, and beds dry out fast.
Down in the lower valley, clay and silt loams hold onto water much longer, which means runoff and soggy spots if a sprinkler system is set up the same way it would be on the bench. A landscape plan that works great for your neighbor a few blocks away can be the wrong plan entirely for your own yard.
Lindon also runs on pressurized secondary water fed by several local canals and irrigation companies, available from late April through mid-October. That's a longer season than many nearby cities get, which is an advantage if your irrigation system can make use of it. We build every Lindon project around your specific soil and that full watering season.
Took advantage of the winter discount on their filters and it saved us a ton of money on our irrigation revitalization project. We have been wanting to get our sprinklers up and running ever since we moved in but have never been able to fit it in our budget until now. Very fair pricing and a great crew to back it up.
If you have secondary water, you know the battle with your pressure. Luckily Kordell had just the right solution to fix my pressure issue in my back yard zone. They were in and out in a day with nothing left behind except a perfectly working system. Super pleased with the crew over at Avalawn.
We did our project in these months to save some money, and even in the freezing weather, the crew showed up with a great attitude. They were able to make our whole yard water wise in just a week. Xeriscaping some areas due to inefficiencies and overhauling the whole sprinkler system. 10/10 times would recommend these guys to take care of any of your irrigation needs.
Davin and Kordell (and crew) are the hardest workers! They turned my 200 foot back fence into a low maintenance beauty. Worked with me when adding/changing stuff. Kordell is very knowledgeable and saved me from having to replace the 9 trees I bought because we have secondary water. Got it done quick. AvaLawn went the extra mile to repair my fountain pump while adding some water lines that the original installer neglected to add. Kordell knew his stuff about fountains too! I would highly recommend!
We had Avalawn do our drip system, removal of a water feature, and install rock in all the boarders and beds. I can’t say enough good things about how well they did! They took a run down yard and made it look amazing! The pictures don’t do it justice. I will be referring them to anyone I know who is shopping for anything yard related. They were prompt and efficient. We have future projects we are saving up for and we will use them again!! Thank you so much Avalawn
We’ve had a persistent issue with our fountain for three summers and two other companies couldn’t figure it out. Kordell came out and pinpointed the issue super fast. He knew his stuff when it came to water features. While he was here he fixed our drip line that we didn’t even know had a leak. I’ve worked with plenty of contractors in my day but it's rare to find one that actually wants to help rather than doing the bare minimum. I highly recommend Avalawn!
I had Avalawn clean our waterfall, empty the reservoir tank and make sure our pump was working properly Eric did a wonderful job cleaning and refreshing the waterfall after years of buildup and yuck. It looks beautiful! He even went so far as to rearrange the rocks so that it sounded much more pleasing. They were easy to work with, and pricing was more than fair. I will definitely use them again.
It usually comes down to elevation. Lower-valley areas in Lindon tend to sit on clay and silt that retain water, while lots closer to the foothills drain through sand and gravel. The same run times that work fine on the bench can flood a valley yard.
Generally speaking, the closer you are to the mountain, the sandier and faster-draining your soil will be. The closer you are to the valley floor, the more likely you are to encounter clay or silt. We confirm it on-site before designing anything, since some lots sit right in the transition zone.
Shorter, more frequent watering cycles, plus soil amendment and mulch that help sandy ground hold moisture longer. We also group plants by water need, so you're not over-watering drought-tolerant beds to keep thirstier ones alive.
It affects timing more than plant selection. With pressurized water available from late April to mid-October, we plan installations and establishment schedules around that window so new plantings get consistent water while they're rooting in.
Often, yes. Clay and silt hold water at the surface even on flat ground, which is exactly what leads to runoff and soggy patches. Simple grading and drainage work can solve this without blaming it on a slope.
Whether you're on a sandy bench lot or a clay-heavy yard in the valley, Avalawn can build a landscape plan around your specific soil and Lindon's watering season. Reach out for a free quote.
